About Us
Nationals of the Republic of Uganda, working in and residing in Ethiopia desired to foster fellowship with one another. Realizing that we have and share a common past and heritage; Recognizing that by coming together we shall be affording better means of knowing and helping solve each other’s problems; Believing that such fellowship will contribute to our welfare and well-being in various ways, and Guided by a sense of justice and honesty, individually committed to excellence and the promotion of unity, progress and strength of our members. We therefore resolved and agreed to form ourselves into an Association.
The management, governance, leadership, Association activities of the Association is governed by a Constitution. Its patron is His/Her Excellency the Ambassador of Uganda’s permanent representation Mission to Ethiopia.
OUR OBJECTIVES
The “Association” shall be a non-political and non-profit making organization created to cater for the welfare of Ugandan nationals and their spouse/dependents resident in Ethiopia and in this regard and in accordance with the spirit within which it has been constituted will undertake to:
(a) Promote a spirit of cooperation, unity and patriotism among the Ugandan community living in Ethiopia.
(b) Promote Ugandan cultural heritage, diversity and identity as the “Pearl of Africa”.
(c) Organize consultative meetings (Conferences, Seminars, workshops, etc.) to encourage policy debate and dialogue as a contribution to the national development agenda.
(d) Assist materially and spiritually members who may be faced with bereavements and other emergencies. In this connection the Association shall raise and maintain an emergency fund to be utilized for this purpose.
(e) Organize recreational and entertainment activities for the benefit of members and raise funds to support these activities.
(f) Wherever possible and in consultation with the Embassy, make arrangements for the Association to meet visiting dignitaries from Uganda such as the Head of State, Ministers and other senior officials and groups of visiting Ugandan.
(g) Welcome and introduce into the Association newly-arrived Ugandans and facilitate the departure of those who are leaving the country;
(h) Keep members informed, in collaboration with the Embassy, of significant developments taking place in Uganda.
(i) Organize members in contributing towards special funds such as disaster funds which may be established in Uganda or other worthy charitable causes.
